When will this hit the stores????? My new RPR Enhanced in 6. Received this scope as a gift. But after lapping, leveling and mounting this on my rifle, I had taken it out to my back porch and started to look through it and I am completely blown away by the quality of this scope. The reticle is a FFP so it stays true as you increase magnification.

The turrets are clicky feeling and each click is audible. The magnification and parallax feel very smooth and have just enough resistance to to not unintentionally move while still being easy enough to change without getting off target. The only thing I do not like is that the illumination is pretty stiff and quite hard to adjust.

You will definitely need to turn on the illumination before taking aim because turning it on is definitely going to bring you way off aim. I think this is a typo on their website.

The side adjustment knob indicates 15 yards to infinity. This is a critical specification for many airgunners, such as myself. I have an indoor yd target. Luckily for me, the scope just barely focuses down to 14 yards, so I can use it. I am very happy with this scope. The turrets are a big improvement.

The scope appears brighter and crisper than the Argos. For those of you that are just getting started in the PRS or are looking to start, take a close look at the Argos BTR family of scopes. These scopes have features normally only found on high-end scopes. They have a 4x magnification making them versatile in multiple shooting disciplines. They also feature our Advanced Fully-Multi Coated Optics that delivers a crystal clear bright image in in low-light environments.

The aircraft grade aluminum tube will protect these world class optics no matter what punishment you throw at it.

Excess reactant problems

I spend alot of time behind a rifle and am familiar with alot of companies optics and this scope is a winner. The day very well arrived when we are able to use the words quality and affordable in the same sentence to describe shooting equipment.

So far the scope has tracked perfectly and glass is exceptional for a optic in this price margin. Very good price for a scope with these features and even FFP! I am looking forward to seeing what Athlon has for us shooters in the near future and years to come.

Conditions were pretty windy, but the setup was good. Scope performed flawlessly. I am just completely blown away with the quality of this scope. I love everything about it, and I feel like shouting out to the whole world what a prize I have found. I am an air gunner, and I bought this for my FX Wildcat. I am really ashamed to tell you how many scopes I have purchased and returned 12? Just recently I purchased a Leupold VX3i 6.

It was a one of a kind — I used it for one trip to the range and sold it the next day to a friend at a loss just to get rid of it. It would work great on a powder burners also. So I hope to tell all of my brothers and sisters in this sport about it.

This is perfect for us and you should aggressively market these three first focal plane scopes to the airgun community. We airgunners need scopes with holdovers on the reticle — like mildot, half mil dot, or moa reticles — because of the trajectory of our pellets.

But we need holdovers that are valid throughout the full range of magnification! One of the big problems has been that the holdovers are not valid on scopes with the reticle in the second focal plane if one changes the magnification! It was a Zeiss but it would only focus down to 50 yards, so back it went. Allow me to give you a list of all the features one could hope for in a scope for an air rifle.

This scope has everything on the list except a larger side wheel accessory and a locking ring for the eye piece. I can purchase the former on Ebay, and live without the latter. Jason you have hit a major home run with this scope. If you are smart — and I believe you are — you will begin the process of marketing all of the Athlon first focal plane models to the airgun community.

You will steal the market away from Hawke, Leapers, Optimax, and the other last place finishers in this race. It is way cool!

I am just a nobody, regular Joe hunter and these were my personal experiences with these particular optics. Full disclosure: I contacted Athlon about a discount to help defray costs and they agreed incredibly, since they had never even spoken to me before with the request that I share my experiences good or bad honestly.

Further disclosure: while I have read this site for a few years on and off I never joined until I had reason to this review so I have but few posts on this site and little credibility for you to factor into my experiences. I am, however, a pastor; and while that doesn't mean I know squat about optics I hope it gives some measure of credibility to my character and honest opinions.

Athlon Midas BTR 2. After discussing with the Athlon rep I settled on the Midas due to the HD glass and the wider range of magnification that would suit me better in the long run. Truthfully I probably spent much more time behind the scope while zeroing and practicing than I did while actually hunting as it happened pretty fast.

Athlon Helos BTR 6-24 x 50 FFP Riflescope | Athlon Helos Review

I already had a Midas in the 4. The Midas shrugged all of that off and when the time came to pull the trigger I had no fog in the lenses, the reticle was clear, and the illumination worked perfectly for a good aiming point on the dark hide of the bear. In short, I can't speak to the repeatability of the turrets or the ability to see long range mosquitoes with this particular scope on this particular hunt, it wasn't that kind of hunt. What I can say is that it took the pounding and the weather and hit where it was supposed to when I told it to with a totally clear field of vision.

What more could I ask?

I compared them to the guides binos and we traded back and forth so I could get their opinions as well. The short version is they performed very, very well. There were also a Canon and Zeiss but they were both 15x or 20x60 and image stabilized so not really a comparison.

The Ares are advertised as having ED glass and it compared very favorably to the glass in the Nikon and Leica binos. The scope features an aircraft-grade T6 aluminum housing to ensure strength and superior mechanical integrity to protect the optics. The construction frame is capable of withstanding heavy use and strong recoil. It is argon purged for waterproof and fog proof performance.

The elevation and windage turrets have a locking feature to give you peace of mind when you are moving from one station to next.

It includes a first focal plane illuminated MIL reticle that makes it easy for you to quickly identify your target in all light and weather conditions. The scope offers you side-focus parallax adjustments from 10 yds to infinity. The reticle is made from etched glass for effective early-morning and late-evening hours use.

The rifle scope is not only made from quality and reliable material but it also comes with powerful optics and reticle that ensure that you have a clear view of your target even at dusk and dawn. Table of Contents 1 Athlon Helos Review 1.
